In the KMP triangle, the KM side is 13 cm; it is 2 times smaller than the MP side

In the KMP triangle, the KM side is 13 cm; it is 2 times smaller than the MP side. Find the lengths of the sides MP and KP if the sum of the lengths of all sides of the triangle KMP is 59 cm.

According to the conditions of the problem

MP = 2KM.

KM, in turn, is equal to 13 cm. This means that we can find the side of MP. Let’s calculate it:

MP = 2 * 13 = 26 cm.

There are only three sides in any triangle. Hence, the side of KP is equal to

KP = P – (KM + MP), where P is the perimeter, that is, the sum of all sides of the triangle.

According to the conditions of the problem

P = 59 cm.

Now the KP side can be found:

KP = 59 – (13 + 26) = 59 – 39 = 20 cm.

Answer: the lengths of the sides of the triangle KMP are equal: MP = 26 cm, KP = 20 cm.
