In the parallelogram ABCD AB = 7, BC = 11. Find the difference between the perimeters of the triangles OBC

In the parallelogram ABCD AB = 7, BC = 11. Find the difference between the perimeters of the triangles OBC and OAB, if O is the intersection point of the diagonals of the parallelogram.

By condition, a parallelogram ABCD is given.

We will construct this parallelogram, draw diagonals in it and denote the intersection point by O, see the figure.

Consider two triangles OBC and OAB.

Obviously, the side ОВ of these triangles is common, and the side ОВ of the triangle ОВС is equal to the side ОА of the triangle ОАВ.

Therefore, the difference in the perimeters of these triangles will be equal to the difference in the lengths of the sides AB and BC.

11 – 7 = 4 cm.

Answer: the difference between the perimeters of the triangles is 4 centimeters.
