1.Let’s find the amount of zinc chloride substance by the formula:
n = m: M.
M (ZnCl2) = 65 + 70 = 135g / mol.
n = 1.6 g: 135 g / mol = 0.012 mol.
2. Make up the reaction equation. We determine in what quantitative ratios the substances are.
Zn + 2HCl = ZnCl2 + H2.
For 1 mole of zinc there is 1 mole of zinc chloride. The substances are in quantitative ratios of 1: 1. The amount of zinc and zinc chloride will be the same.
n (Zn) = n (ZnCl2) = 0.012 mol.
3.Let’s find the mass of zinc by the formula:
m = n M,
M (Zn)) = 65 g / mol.
m = 0.012 mol × 65 g / mol = 0.78 g.
Answer: 0.78 g.
