In the Southern Mesopotamia in ancient times, rich people indicated in their will, among other property, objects made of wood – a bed, a stool and a door. Why did children and grandchildren inherit, along with a house, household utensils, and ingots of silver, such, in our opinion, an object, strange to be mentioned in a will, like a door?
Because in the southern Mesopotamia, as well as in ancient Egypt, there was very rare vegetation and there were practically no forests, and therefore wood was considered a very expensive material, like products made from it. Despite this, this region was prosperous, agriculture and trade actively developed here, which contributed to the rapid development of this region, even though the forest was a rare phenomenon here.
