In the workshop, they made a square and rectangular frame for portraits, the length of the rectangular frame is 10 cm and the width is 8 cm. The same amount went to the square frame of the material as to the rectangular one. Calculate the length of the side of the square frame.
If the same amount of material went to the square and rectangular frames, then their perimeters will coincide in value. Find the perimeter of the rectangle:
10 * 2 + 8 * 2 = 20 + 16 = 36 cm;
The square has four identical sides, to find one side, we divide the perimeter by four:
36: 4 = 9 cm.
Answer: The length of the side of the square frame is 9 cm.
