In a right-angled triangle, the legs are connected through the tangent of the angle. By definition, the tangent of an acute angle of a right-angled triangle is equal to the ratio of the opposite leg to the adjacent one.
tg A = BC / AC.
This means that the adjacent leg can be found by dividing the opposite leg by the tangent of the opposite angle.
AC = BC / tg A = √3 / √3 = 1.
