In triangle ABC, side AB is 62 cm, side BC is 10 cm larger than AB, and side AC is 16 cm

In triangle ABC, side AB is 62 cm, side BC is 10 cm larger than AB, and side AC is 16 cm smaller than AB. Find the perimeter of triangle ABC.

The perimeter of a triangle with sides a, b and c is calculated by the formula:

P = a + b + c.

1) Find the length of the side BC, it is known that it is 10cm longer than the side AB:

62cm + 10cm = 72cm.

2) Find the length of the side AC, it is known that it is 16cm less than the side AB:

62cm – 15cm = 47cm.

3) Find the perimeter of triangle ABC:

60cm + 72cm + 47cm = 179cm.

4) Let’s convert the value to decimetres:

10cm = 1dm; 179cm = 179/10 = 17.9dm.

Answer: Perimeter of triangle ABC = 17.9 dm.
