In triangle ABC, the length of side AB is 5 cm, side BC is 8 cm longer than side AB, and the length of side AC

In triangle ABC, the length of side AB is 5 cm, side BC is 8 cm longer than side AB, and the length of side AC is 6 cm less than the sum of the lengths of sides AB and BC. Find the perimeter of the triangle.

The perimeter of any polygon is equal to the sum of the lengths of all its sides.

We calculate the lengths of the sides of the triangle, based on the condition of the problem:

AB = 5 cm;

BC = AB + 8 = 5 + 8 = 13 cm;

AC = AB + BC – 6 = 5 + 13 – 6 = 12 cm.

The perimeter of the triangle is:

P = AB + BC + AC = 5 + 13 + 12 = 30 cm.

Answer: the perimeter of the triangle is 30 cm.
