| In triangle ABC, the sides AB and BC are 5 dm long and the AC side is 2 dm shorter than them. Calculate the perimeter of the triangle.
ABC – isosceles triangle;
AB = BC = 5 dm;
AC = 2 dm is shorter than them.
Let’s calculate the perimeter of the triangle.
1) First, find the base of the AC isosceles triangle.
AC = 5 dm – 2 dm = 3 dm.
2) Find the perimeter of the triangle.
The perimeter of a triangle is the sum of all the sides of the triangle.
P = AB + BC + AC = 5 dm + 5 dm + 2 dm = 10 dm + 2 dm = 12 dm.
This means that the perimeter of the isosceles triangle ABC is equal to P = 12 dm.
