In two incubators, the number of eggs is the same. When 25 chicks hatched in the first incubator and 15 chicks in the second, then in the first incubator there are 2 times less eggs left than in the second. How many eggs were there in each incubator?

Let there be x eggs in each incubator.

when 25 eggs hatched in the 1st incubator, there were left:

x – 25 (eggs),

when 15 eggs hatched in the 2nd incubator, there were left:

x – 15 (eggs),

if in the 1st incubator there are 2 times less eggs left, then we make the equation:

2 × (x – 25) = x – 15,

Let’s solve this equation:

2x – 50 = x – 15,

2x – x = 50 – 15,

x = 35.

Answer: Each incubator contained 35 eggs.
