The great geographical discoveries led to an increase in the prices of goods in agricultural and industrial spheres of life. This rapid rise in prices in the 16th century became known as the “price revolution”. Western Europe gained access to gold and precious stones from the newly discovered lands, but their cost was very low. England, France, Germany used cheap slave labor or plundered new countries. This led to an increase in the value of the old goods: bread, all foodstuffs, basic necessities. Wages depreciated – the proletarian became poorer, and the big bourgeoisie became richer and richer.
