In what century did mechanical watches appear?

Measuring time has always interested people, since only its knowledge gave a lot of advantages. Some semblance of mechanical clocks was invented at the end of the 6th century, but they could not be called mechanical, rather water. Already a truly mechanical watch appeared in the XIII century, but it was very bulky and was not widely used. They also had a huge disadvantage in timing imprecision and could not be used universally. Over time, the clock became smaller and more convenient, and at the end of the 17th century Huysens assembled the world’s first mechanical pendulum clock, the principle of which was based on the interaction of a spring and a pendulum. This breakthrough in the evolution of watches has become a serious impetus and now we have the opportunity to carry the watch in our pocket and know the time around the clock.
