In 410, Rome was captured first by the Goths, and in 455 it was plundered by the Vandals. The official end of the Western Roman Empire is considered to be 476, when the last Roman emperor Romulus was killed by the leader of the Germanic tribes Odoacer. That is, it was the 5th century.
