In what natural and climatic zone were the first Slavic states formed?

We are talking about the period from the 7th century (681 – the first state in Bulgaria) to the middle of the 10th century (the emergence of kingdoms in Croatia and Poland).

Slavic states arose in the temperate continental climatic zone. In its northern part, the slash-and-burn farming system was practiced.

The South Slavic states – Bulgaria, Serbia (or Raska), Duklia (in modern Montenegro), Croatia were in the Mediterranean climatic zone.
