The period from the 15th to the 17th century is considered to be the era of great geographical discoveries. During this time, new lands and sea routes were discovered that influenced the life and science of the Middle Ages. From 1418-1488 travelers to Portugal discovered the sea route from the Atlantic to the Indian. In 1492, Christopher Columbus discovered America. In 1498 Vasco da Gama found a sea route to India. In 1512, the Portuguese discovered the Moluccas, and in 1513 they reached the shores of China. 1522 Fernand Magellan’s trip around the world.
