In what state of matter, liquid or solid, the force of interaction of particles is greater. Why?

The work that must be done to break apart the particles of a solid is greater than the work required to break apart the particles of a liquid.

Let us verify this with a simple example. Pour ordinary water into a glass. Almost no effort is required for us to divide a certain volume of liquid into two equal portions, i.e. disconnect the molecules from each other.

Now let’s try to split a piece of steel. It won’t work out so easily for us, tk. we need to saw or cut the steel, i.e. spend much more energy on splitting the crystal lattice of the metal.
