In what territory the Soviet power was held in 1918-1919.

This period is sometimes called the figurative expression “Soviet power in a ring of fronts.” During the least successful period of the Civil War, Soviet power controlled the European part of the country from Lake Onega in the north to the Caspian Sea in the south and from the Kama River in the east to Smolensk in the west. In the south, the Reds controlled Astrakhan and Stavropol, in the north Olonets and Petrozavodsk, in the east – Kazan and Glazov, in the west – the Voronezh-Kursk-Vitebsk line. In Siberia and Central Asia, there were areas controlled by the red partisans.
