| Information from one nerve cell to another is transmitted through an electrical impulse (this is one of the most important properties of nerve tissue – the ability to generate and transmit an electrical impulse). The impulse is generated in the body of the neuron, then moves along the long process of the neuron – the axon. The axon, in turn, makes contact with a short branched outgrowth of another neuron (dendrite), along which the impulse reaches the body of the second neuron.
