In what year did the British capture Bengal?

The conquest of Bengal by the British East India Company can be traced back to 1757, when Robert Clive defeated the army of the Nawab of Bengal and the French who joined it at the battle of Plessis. Clive’s army included mercenary sepoys. Clive’s victory was a success thanks to the betrayal of one of the generals of Bengal. After a heavy rain, the weapons of the Indians were out of order, while the British kept them dry. Mir Jafar was forced to retreat, citing the impossibility of continuing the battle. In fact, it was he who was bribed by the British. Thus, this victory marked the beginning of the rule of England in Bengal.
