In what year did the Frankish Empire collapse?

The division of the vast Frankish empire took place in 843. Louis the Pious became the last ruler of the unified state. His death occurred in 840. Then a feud between his sons began. It ended 3 years later with the signing of the Treaty of Verdun. The empire split into 3 parts. The eldest son of Louis Lothair I took power in the Middle Kingdom, the 2nd son Louis the German and the 3rd son Charles the Bald took power in the kingdoms of East Frankish and West Frankish.
