In what year did the Roman Empire split?

The Roman Empire was so great that many emperors appointed co-rulers for themselves, to whom a certain part of the empire was transferred to control.

The final division of the empire into two parts was undertaken by the emperor Theodosius. He appointed two of his sons as rulers: Honorius and Arcadius. To each he appointed assistants – Stilicho and Rufin.

The empire was no longer united.

The Western Empire fell under the blows of the barbarians in 476, while the eastern part existed for another 1000 years and went down in history as the Byzantine Empire.
