In which countries of antiquity did they learn to make silk and cotton fabrics? Where were the paper and the compass invented?

They learned to make silk fabrics in China. Later, silk began to be made in Sogdiana, and then in other countries of the world. The very technology of breeding the silkworm was brought from the trip by the wife of the Chinese emperor Lei Zu. She taught people how to properly grow and extract threads from silkworms. It is indisputable that it was China that was the innovator in silk making. And even to this day, China is the largest silk producer (about 50% of all world production.
As you know, China was an ancient center of weaving, there are references that cotton was cultivated here in 2.5 thousand years BC, but according to other sources, the cotton cultivation culture was borrowed from India. And it was in India, in the valley of the Indus River, that fragments of cotton cloth and cotton rope were found, dating back to 3000 BC.
It is also interesting that the paper was also put into large production in China. But it was invented long before that. Even the ancient Egyptians made the first attempt to get paper – they made paper scrolls from papyrus leaves. However, the first paper sheets, as we know, were received only in 105 AD by the Chinese dignitary Tsai Lun.
It is no secret that China was an enlightened country, and in the same place in 960 AD a truly important and necessary invention – the compass – was revealed to the world. It was a spoon that swung freely on a plate resembling a saucer. The surface of the plate was polished so that the spoon could rotate in all directions. Such compasses have found wide application in the desert, and then were gradually transferred to the sea, and spread throughout the world and have proven themselves excellent.
