Nazi Germany attacked the USSR on June 22, 1941, the purpose of the war was to destroy the Soviet state and people. A few days later, Romania, Italy, Finland, Hungary, the Independent State of Croatia, Slovakia declared war on the Soviet Union. Germany’s allies Bulgaria and Spain refrained from declaring war, but the latter sent a “Blue Division” to the Eastern Front to help the Nazis.
