Interaction of ammonium carbonate with alkali (ionic form).

The ionic formula of this substance is as follows:

(NH4) * 2CO3 + 2NaOH = Na2CO3 + 2NH3 ↑ + 2H2O;

2 (NH4 +) + CO3 -3 + 2Na + + 2OH – → NH3 ↑ + H2O + 2Na + + 2CO –

NH4 + OH = NH3 ↑ + H2O

Therefore, the results of the interaction of ammonium carbonate with alkali are the decomposition of this substance into water and into a gas with a pungent odor – ammonia.
