Ionic equation of nitric acid with potassium carbonate

2HNO3 + K2CO3 = 2KNO3 + H2O + CO2

2H + + 2NO3- + 2K + + CO32- = 2NO3- + 2K + + H2O + CO2

2H + + CO32- = H2O + CO2

Nitric acid and sodium carbonate are strong electrolytes; in solution they dissociate into ions and therefore are written in the ionic form in the ionic equation. Carbon dioxide is a non-electrolyte, water is a weak electrolyte, so in the ionic equation they are written in molecular form.
