Ireland’s problem at the end of the 19th century.

At the end of the XIX century. increased Irish nationalism. Colonization by England led to the impoverishment of the Irish landowners. Many families lost their plots. In the middle of the century, a poor harvest of potatoes, the main crop, broke out in Ireland, which caused famine, aggravated the situation of the people, forced part of the population to migrate, and the rest of the people to go to workhouses. This caused an increase in Irish dissatisfaction with the policy of England. Nationalist parties have infiltrated the British Parliament. Irish organizations are also active in America and Canada. They defended autonomy, the country’s withdrawal from the United Kingdom. The resistance did not stop in the twentieth century, in 1921 Ireland became autonomous, and in 1949 – an independent state.
