Is chlorine part of chlorophyll?

Chlorine is not part of chlorophyll. The similarity of their names is due to the fact that they are formed from the same root “chloros” – green (Greek). Thus, the names indicate the similarity of substances in color, and not that the chlorine element is part of the organic pigment.
