Parallels and meridians, as well as the earth’s axis, are only imaginary lines, and it is impossible to find them on the surface, as it is drawn on the globe. However, some parallels, such as the equator, the northern tropic and the southern tropic, the polar circles, have a certain physical meaning. In contrast to them, all meridians are the same, they simply agreed to consider one of them as zero. But the meridian can be seen from space – this is the line separating the light and dark half of our planet on the days of the equinox.
