Is the intercellular substance a part of the tissue?

The intercellular substance and cells, which have the same function and origin, form tissue. The intercellular substance in the tissue is very important. It often takes up most of the tissue itself. This substance is inherently a liquid for the communication between cells. Substances move between cells by means of diffusion or by means of special pores. But this requires an environment, since the cells are not always in close contact with each other. There are voids between them. These voids are filled by the intercellular substance.
