Is the removal of the tip of the main root beneficial to the life of the plant?

Some gardeners remove the tip of the main root before planting a tree or shrub. This is done for a reason. When this happens, the root system is disrupted. But this does not harm the plant itself, unless of course you remove most of the root. In the damaged area, the process of root regeneration begins. And instead of one rod, several processes appear. This increases the size of the root and allows for much faster and better absorption of water and nutrients from the soil. Although this is not necessary, since there will be no particularly noticeable progress in the growth of the tree.
