Islands without independence. Who do they belong to?

These islands belong to other countries for different reasons. For example, many islands and countries during the great geographical discoveries in the New World were colonies of European countries. Throughout history, many countries have fought for independence, and some have not. And those countries / islands that remained dependent, in fact, belong to one country or another.
Many islands in the Pacific Ocean are dependent on the United Kingdom and the United States. And the largest island, Greenland, belongs to Denmark.
