Find the smallest integer value of the expression x – y.
1) Let x = 4, y = 2, then:
x – y = 4 – 2 = 2;
2) Let x = 4, y = 1, then:
x – y = 4 – 1 = 3;
3) Let x = 5, y = 2, then:
x – y = 5 – 2 = 3;
Hence we see that the smallest integer value of the expression x – y is 4 – 2 = 2.
