| In order to find the value of the parameter b, if it is known that the straight line 6x + by = 71 passes through point D with coordinates (23; 5).
To do this, we substitute the coordinates of this point into the equation of the straight line:
x = 23; y = 5 and solve the resulting linear equation with respect to the variable b.
So, we substitute and get:
6 * 23 + b * 5 = 71;
138 + 5b = 71;
Now we will move on to move 138 to the right side of the equation and do the following:
5b = 71-138;
5b = -67;
b = -67: 5;
b = -13.4.
Answer: for b = -13.4.
