South America is entirely located in the Western Hemisphere.
Much of it is located south of the equator. Also, this continent is crossed by the southern tropic and is largely stretched from north to south (its length is about 7,000 km).

South America is washed by the Pacific Ocean in the east, and the Atlantic Ocean in the west. South America connects with the North Isthmus of Panama.
