List the features of wind-pollinated plants.

Wind-pollinated plants produce huge amounts of pollen from small flowers; they usually do not have prominent, colorful, fragrant flowers (plant reproductive organs) that attract insects. Ambrosia is probably the most common and well-known of these, known as allergens. Conifers or cone-forming plants such as pine trees produce this type of pollen. Wind-pollinated plants have a large stigma, branched and feathered. Pollen grains are produced in large quantities and are often smooth and light so that they can be carried by the wind. Wind pollination is typical of gymnosperms that produce cones and many shrubs and trees that bloom in winter and early spring.

Features of flowers of wind-pollinated plants (such as birch, rye):
• The pollen is dry, light, fine;
• Blooming before the leaves open;
• Flowers are inconspicuous, odorless;
• The perianth is almost undeveloped or absent at all;
• Flowers with anthers on long hanging threads
