List the functions of the main plant tissue.
The main tissue of plants is otherwise called parenchyma. It performs many basic functions in the plant organism. Also, all organs and tissues of a plant mainly consist of parenchyma. The main plant tissue, due to the fact that it performs many functions, is subdivided into several types.
The first type of parenchyma is storage tissue. It stores various nutrients that enter the plant and is used by the plant further for nutrition.
The second type of parenchyma is assimilation tissue. She actively participates in the process of photosynthesis.
The third type of parenchyma is excretory tissue. It accumulates metabolic products in itself and helps to remove them from the plant organism.
Also, the types of parenchyma include airborne tissue and aquiferous tissue.
