Vikings are often called Varangians, Normans or Scandinavians. They are a warlike and free people, so they spend most of their time on military campaigns or on ships. The Vikings were engaged in the production of weapons and ships. As a result of their military power, they constantly plundered some of the naval powers of the Middle Ages. For example, the Varangians often traded with European merchants, but they also often plundered the coastal cities of France and England. Sometimes they came to the shores of Italy or Byzantium.
