The most advanced branches of activity in the 16-17 centuries were concentrated in the European part of Russia. Near Moscow, the most profitable and productive were the manufactories of heavy industry. Pig iron procurement, precious metal mining, and iron processing were the most profitable. One of the reasons is that in the countries of Russia, the products of these enterprises were traded on the foreign market.
