List what Jan Hus criticized the Catholic Church for. What did he want to change in her?
Jan Hus is an ideologist and preacher in the Czech Republic (15th century). He preached in Czech, which was understandable to the common people. Despite the fact that he was the rector of a private chapel in Prague, Jan Hus actively criticized the Catholic Church. His speeches touched on everyday life, and criticism poured not only on the priests, but also on the feudal lords. In particular, he was against: indulgences, sacramental fees and the sale of church offices. He taught believers to obey the Holy Scriptures more than the Catholic Church. Jan Hus also advocated fairness in the distribution of property. He called on the church to return to the supreme authority of the Bible. In 1415 he was burned at the stake along with his manuscripts.
