Magellan’s circumnavigation route. Which strait was discovered as a result of this trip around the world.

Leaving Spain in the fall of 1519, the expedition set out towards the west coast of Africa. At Cape Verde, it turned southeast, crossed the Atlantic Ocean and reached the shores of Brazil.

In January 1520, she approached the La Plata River, mistaking it for a strait. Continued along the eastern coast of South America.

In the fall of 1520, it entered a previously unknown strait, later named Magellanic.

Through the Strait of Magellan, he entered the open ocean, which he called the Pacific. In March 1951, he reached the unknown islands, which he called the Filipino, where he died, and his ship, circumnavigating Africa, came to Spain.
