Let’s find the amount of sodium carbonate substance:
v (Na2CO3) = m (Na2CO3) / M (Na2CO3) = 10.6 / 106 = 0.1 (mol).
According to the reaction equation, 1 mol of MgCO3 is formed per 1 mol of Na2CO3, therefore:
v (MgCO3) = v (Na2CO3) = 0.1 (mol).
Thus, the mass of the resulting precipitate of magnesium carbonate:
m (MgCO3) = v (MgCO3) * M (MgCO3) = 0.1 * 84 = 8.4 (g).
Answer: 8.4 g.
