Make the equation: Ethylene-ethanol-acetaldehyde-acetic acid-water
February 15, 2021 | education
| 1) When ethylene interacts with water in the presence of H2SO4 and when exposed to high temperatures, ethanol is formed:
C2H4 + H2O → C2H5OH;
2) Ethanol reacts with copper (II) oxide during heating and it turns out – acetaldehyde, pure copper and water:
C2H5OH + CuO → CH3COH + Cu + H2O;
3) In the process of interaction of acetaldehyde with silver (I) oxide in the presence of ammonia and water, acetic acid and silver are formed:
CH3COH + Ag2O → CH3COOH + Ag;
4) Acetic acid is oxidized to carbon dioxide and water:
CH3COOH + 2O2 → 2CO2 + 2H2O.
