Measure the density of the plasticine.

First, we will measure the density of the light (floating) plasticine. To increase tonnage
The participants were given two pieces of this plasticine. It is necessary to mold one piece of them into an elongated shape in order for it to fit into the measuring cylinder. In order to make it convenient to lower and remove the plasticine from the cylinder, we use a thread. Pour water into the cylinder and measure the volume of water in the cylinder V0. Then we immerse the plasticine in water so that it floats, slightly touching the walls of the cylinder. We measure the change in the water level in the cylinder. According to Archimedes’ law, the weight of the displaced water is equal to the weight of plasticine mg = FA = pg (V1- V0)
From here we find the mass of plasticine m = p (V1-V0). In order to find the volume of plasticine with your finger, immerse the plasticine under water and measure the water level in the cylinder V2. From here we find the volume of plasticine V = V2- V0

The density of plasticine is calculated by the formula p = m / V = V1- V0 / V2- V0

Now let’s measure the density of ordinary plasticine. Since plasticine sinks in water, for measurement, it is enough just to immerse the plasticine on a string into a cylinder. To measure the mass of plasticine, we will make a boat out of it (due to the small diameter of the measuring cylinder, this boat will look more like a glass in shape). We lower the boat into a measuring cylinder on a string and measure the change in water level. We calculate the mass of plasticine in the same way as in the first case.
