Molten aluminum weighing 1, 2 kg, taken at the melting temperature, was poured into water

Molten aluminum weighing 1, 2 kg, taken at the melting temperature, was poured into water, the mass of which was 2.1 kg and a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. Find how much water will boil away.

Given: m1 (aluminum) = 1.2 kg; m2 (water) = 2.1 kg; t0 (initial water temperature) = 16 ºС; tmelt = 660.4 ºС; λ = 3.9 * 10 ^ 5 J / kg; Ca = 920 J / (kg * K); Cw = 920 J / (kg * K); tboil = 100 ºС; L = 2.3 * 10 ^ 6 J / kg.

1) Excess heat after bringing the water to the boiling point: ΔQ = Qa – Qw = λ * m1 + Ca * m1 * (tmelt – tboil) – Sv * m2 * (tboil – t0) = 3.9 * 10 ^ 5 * 1 , 2 + 920 * 1.2 * (660.4 – 100) – 4200 * 2.1 * (100 – 16) = 345801.6 J.

2) The mass of boiled water: mw = ΔQ / L = 345801.6 / (2.3 * 10 ^ 6) = 0.15 kg.
