Muscle spindle functions.

The function of the muscle spindle is to let the brain know when the muscles are contracting (which happens when there is a stimulus).

The muscle spindle gives us a sense of movement, position, and where our body parts are (this is how you know where your hand is when you close your eyes) – this is known as proprioception.

The muscle spindle also has a stretch reflex – if your leg is wrong, this is what causes your hamstring to contract to bring your leg back to normal.
