Name the methods of obtaining acetylene. Make an equation of the corresponding reactions.

There are two main conversion processes used for the production of acetylene. One of them is a chemical reaction process that takes place at normal temperatures. Another is the thermal cracking process, which takes place at extremely high temperatures.

Acetylene can be produced by a chemical reaction between calcium carbide and water. This reaction causes a significant amount of heat to be removed to prevent the explosion of the acetylene gas. There are several variations of this process in which calcium carbide is added to water or water is added to calcium carbide. Both of these options are called wet processes because excess water is used to absorb the heat of reaction. The third option, called the dry process, uses only a limited amount of water, which then evaporates as it is absorbed.
