Name the peoples who lived in the first half of the 19th century in the Austrian Empire.

The governing people of the Austrian Empire (as the name implies) were the Austrians – a branch of the South Germans close to the Bavarians. Other German-speaking peoples inhabiting the Empire were the Transylvanian Saxons and Banat Swabians. The second largest were the Hungarians. Slavic peoples were widespread – Czechs, Slovaks, Rusyns, Poles, Ukrainians, Slovenes, Croats. Romanians and Italians stood apart.
