On the MP segment, the point is taken to K, while the length of the MC segment is 0.68 of the length of the MP segment. Find MR if the length from the cut KP is less than the length of the MK segment by 5.4.

Let us denote by variable x the length of the segment MР.

Therefore, according to the conditions of the problem, we can express the length of the MK segment in terms of 0.68x, and the length of the KP segment we can express in terms of: x – 0.68x = 0.32x.

Knowing, according to the condition of the problem, that the length of the MK segment exceeds the length of the KP segment by 5.4 conventional units, we will compose an equation and determine the length of the MR segment in conventional units:

0.68x – 0.32x = 5.4;

0.36x = 5.4;

x = 15.

Answer: The length of the MP segment is 15 conventional units.
