On the segment KM 34 cm long, points A and B were marked so that KA – 21 cm

On the segment KM 34 cm long, points A and B were marked so that KA – 21 cm, BM – 18 cm. What is the length of segment AB?

By the condition of the problem, it is known that KA is 21 cm, BM is 18 cm, and the KM segment is 34 cm. Points A and B are located on the KM segment. If we add the lengths of the segments BM and KA, we get the length as a result:
21 + 18 = 39 (cm) – the sum of the BM and KA segments.
The sum of these two segments is greater than the length of the segment on which they are located. This means that point B is closer to point K, and point A is closer to point M. Find the length of the segment AB:
39 – 34 = 5 (cm) – the length of the segment AB.
Answer: the length of the segment AB is 5 cm.
