On the segment KM, 34 cm long, points A and B were marked so that KA = 21cm, BM = 18cm. Determine the length of the segment AB.

Since the length of the KA and BM segments in total is 21 + 18 = 39 (cm), which is less than the length of the entire KM segment, the points are located in the following order: K, B, A, M.
If the length of the KM segment is 34 cm, then the AM segment is 34 – 21 = 13 (cm).
The CВ will be 34 – 18 = 16 (cm).
The length of the segment AB will be equal to: 34 – (16 + 13) = 5 (cm).
Answer: segment AB has a length equal to 5 cm.
